Medicine of the Prophet (PBUH)

The Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) said,
“Use the Black Seed for indeed, it is a cure for all diseases except death.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

Abu Hurayrah (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ) narrated that
the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Use this Black Seed regularly, because it is a cure for every disease, except death.”
(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat Abu Hurairah States – “I have heard from Rasool Allah (PBUH) ﷺ that there is cure for every disease in black seeds except death and black seeds are shooneez.”

Salim Bin Abdullah narrates with reference to his father Hazrat Abdullah Bin Omar that Rasool Allah (PBUH) ﷺ said, “Let fall these black seeds upon you, these contain cure for all diseases except death.”

The same narration is found in Sanad-e-Ahmed from Hazrat Aisha (R.A) and in Ibn-al-Jozi and Trimizi from Abu Huraira. Hazrat Buraida narrates that Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) ﷺ stated – “Shooneez is cure for all ailments except death.”

Every sickness has a cure

Muslim narrated in his Sahih that the Prophet ﷺ (SAW) said:

"Every illness has a cure, and when the proper cure is applied to the disease, it ends it, Allah Willing.”

Also, it is narrated in the Sahihan that the Messenger of Allah said:

“Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has, also sent down its cure.”

Further, Imam Ahmad narrated that Usamah bin Shuraik said:

“I was with the Prophet ﷺ (SAW) when the Bedouins came to him and said,’O Messenger of Allah, should we seek medicine? ‘He said,yes, O slaves of Allah, seek medicine, for Allah has not created a disease except that he has also created its cure, except that he has also created its cure, except for one illness,’They said,”And what is that? ‘He said, ‘Old age.”

In addition, it is related in the Musnad (by Imam Ahmad) that the Prophet ﷺ (SAW) said:

“Allah has not sent down a disease except that He also sent down its cure; Whoever is unaware of it ( the cure), knows it, and whoever s unaware of it. “(the medicine) while those who are ignorant of it are unaware of it.” [ An- Nasai i, Ibn Majah, Al- Hakim and Ibn Hibban].

Prophetic Medicine Treatment

The Prophet ﷺ used three types of remedies for various ailments:

natural, divine and a combination of both natural and divine.

The Prophet’s guidance concerning food and drink:

Including observing diets, refraining from excessive eating and the general guidelines that should be observed regarding eating and drinking.

Al- Musnad (by Imam Ahmed) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“The son of Adam never fills a vessel worse than his stomach, The son of Adam only needs a few bites that would sustain him, but if he insists, onethird should be reserved for his food, another third for his drink and the last third for his breathing.”
